(Sorry no explanation this week been a little busy dealing with the family)
Green Bay over Detroit
Dallas over Miami
Baltimore over San Francisco
Atlanta over Minnesota
Cincinnati over Cleveland
Carolina over Indianapolis
Houston over Jacksonville
NY Jets over Buffalo
ST. Louis over Arizona
Tennessee over Tampa Bay
Oakland over Chicago
Seattle over Washington
New England over Philadelphia
San Diego over Denver
Pittsburgh over Kansas City
New Orleans over NY Giants
Packers @ Lions (Packers Win)…Green Bay, and Detroit is bound to be a very good matchup. Over the years despite the Lions’ record, they’ve always fought hard, and played seemingly well. This year is no different. With the Lions winning last week vs. the Panthers in a comeback, they’ll try to carry their momentum on to this game vs. the undefeated Packers. I visualize a very competitive, close game here with defense being more important than offense this week. Aaron Rodgers, Mathews, and the rest of the key Cheeseheads will do whatever it takes to sneak out this tight victory.
Dolphins @ Cowboys (Cowboys Win)…As long as it doesn’t snow again in Dallas for Thanksgiving like it did many years ago against the ‘Phins, I think the Cowboys on a 3 game winning streak will continue to stay hot, and push the streak to 4. But lately, these Dolphins have fought hard, and have a winning streak of their own. The only difference is Miami has yet to play a team like the Cowboys in that streak. Romo will carve up Miami’s secondary, especially on play action plays because Murray will keep the defense on its toes at all times, because this team has a good balance going right now that they didn’t have early on in this season. Ware on pace to possibly break the all-time sack record this season, will put a lot of pressure on this Dolphins offensive line. Oh, by the way Miami’s QB Moore used to play for the Cowboys, but he’ll come up short against his old team. The ‘Boys win this one, and have a happy Thanksgiving.
49ers @ Ravens (Ravens Win)…Short week will hinder the 49ers who have less time to prepare due to having to fly from the west coast coming to Baltimore. I just don’t think this brotherly love matchup will be all that close. San Fran has played pretty well most of this season, but I think they’ll lose on Thanksgiving night. Ray Rice will pound the 49ers defense, and Flacco’s passing game will be open from the pressure of Rice’s ability. Niners get their second loss of the season, in a blowout.
Cardinals @ Rams (Rams Win)…Arizona coming to ST. Louis will be the Cardinals 3rd consecutive road game, that will show up here as the first one to score double digit points will win this matchup. That team will be the Rams. Close game, but Bradford and company get the victory.
Browns @ Bengals (Bengals Win)…Cincy has played well against the tougher opponents of their division the last two weeks, having opportunites to win both but coming up short. The Bengals have no problem winning this game, Benson, Dalton, and the defense comes up big in this victory.
Bucs @ Titans (Bucs Win)…Tampa Bay knows that their season is really on the line now, especially after coming up short against the Packers the previous week. Blount will get a lot of touches in this game, and they’ll pound their way to victory on the road. Tampa Bay willl win by 10 points in a hard fought game in Tennessee.
Bills @ Jets (Jets Win)…The Bills who started out the season hot, have now fizzled down a bit. Losing consecutive games, this team is hurting but physically, and emotionally. Asking this team to come into the Jets stadium, and squeezing out the win is a tough task to ask from them. Fred Jackson is out for the season, and that will put more pressure on Fitzpatrick to come up big, and in the end result the Jets will win this game easily. New York is furious over their performances the past few games. Rex Ryan lights a fire under this team, and with a win it keeps them in pace for a possible playoff spot.
Vikings @ Falcons (Falcons Win)…Matt Ryan, Turner, White and this high scoring offense will look to go up early in this game. Defense will play well, and will put a lot of pressure on the Vikings who will maybe be missing Adrian Peterson, their main offensive weapon. Atlanta blows out Minnesota at home this week.
Texans @ Jaguars (Texans Win)…With Matt Leinart taking the repps at QB this week, he’ll have a solid enough effort in this Sunday’s matchup vs. the Jags. Jones-Drew will rush for over 100 yards. But this time, that won’t be enough of an effort to get a win for the Jags. Houston will use their weapons on offense to get the victory here. It should be a close game though.
Panthers @ Colts (Panthers Win)…Cam Newton will look to clean up his performance from the previous week, as Carolina blew a big lead vs. the Lions. The Colts may be coming off of a Bye will be refreshed, but this team doesn’t show the consistancy, and effort from week to week. This is in part because they know the season is over, and want the #1 spot in next years NFL Draft. Carolina, usually not a good road team, will be a good road team this week. Steve Smith is primed for a big outing, as the Panthers win it in Indy.
Bears @ Raiders (Raiders Win)…No Cutler, no problem. The Bears defense is tough as usual, but Palmer and his offense has played better than most may have anticipated. Oakland looks to stay in first place after this week, and the Raiders defense will contain Hanie and the Bears offense, sorry Forte you won’t be enough to put this team on your shoulders to get the win. Oakland takes it by a close margin.
Redskins @ Seahawks (Seahawks Win)…Washington played seemingly well vs. Dallas last Sunday, but still lost in OT to the hot streaking ‘Boys. Seattle has played very well past few games, and are on a streak of their own. Grossman doesn’t have a good game, and Seattle wins it at home, where the 12th man is always ready to roar. Close margin game, Lynch has a big day as his team wins it.
Patriots @ Eagles (Patriots Win)…Vince Young led his Eagles to victory in New York on SNF last week, but success is a tough feat sometimes. New England will take this win on the road in Philly led by a pass attack from QB Tom Brady. The Eagles won’t have the same success this week as they did last week. Eagles lose by 2 scores.
Broncos @ Chargers (Chargers Win)…San Diego played well enough at times last week to possibly beat the Bears, but in the end they lost. Rivers is steaming after another loss. I don’t see Tebow getting lucky again this week, and the Chargers win it at home led by Rivers, and company. Vincent Jackson will score 2 TD’s in this game.
Steelers @ Chiefs (Steelers Win)…Sunday Night Football in Kansas City, the crowd will be going wild at Arrowhead but this team won’t have the fire power to take down Big Ben and his crew. The Steelers defense will put a stop to anything the Chiefs try doing in this matchup. Pittsburgh takes the win easily.
Giants @ Saints (Saints Win)…New Orleans home for a Monday Night Football game? The dome is always loud for these kinds of games, and this offense is clicking right now. Drew Brees will have a big day, and the Giants losing streak will continue, as they try keeping pace in the NFC East Division race. Eli, and teammates will lose by 2 scores in a high scoring game, Saints win.
Jets @ Broncos (Jets Win)…Rex Ryan will have this team ready to go with fire in their eyes looking to bounce back from that awful loss against their rival New England Patriots last week. Sanchez will play good enough to win (or at least out-duel Tim Tebow), but the defense of New York will be too much for these Broncos to handle. Jets W-I-N. Win! Win! Win!
Bengals @ Ravens (Ravens Win)…If you would have told me before the season started that these Bengals would have a meaningful matchup vs. Baltimore this late in the season, i’d tell you that you were lying, or if you said that Cincy would be in the hunt to win their division or even earn a Wild Card spot i’d tell you that you’re crazy. These Bengals are lead by a young nucleus of Dalton, Green, wirh their veteran running back Benson along with a solid defense, this team is no fluke. But coming off a bad loss last week to Seattle I don’t see the Ravens losing at home in a important game like this. Flacco, and crew bounce back, Rice will have more than 5 carries this game I promise you, and that’s bad news for Cincy, Ravens win a close divisional game here.
Jaguars @ Browns (Jaguars Win)…This has the makings to be the best game of the week (not)…Expect low scoring people. The Browns who are without their Madden Cover Athlete Peyton Hillis for consecutive weeks now, and that has put a huge void in their offensive production. McCoy’s team cannot move the ball, or put up points right now, this team is struggling. I can hear the Dawg Pound right now as I type this, but sorry fellas this Cleveland team doesn’t rock (shoutout to Drew Carey), Jags win it because they’ve got a healthy, productive back in Jones-Drew, he’ll be all they need to put up points, and steal the victory on the road.
Panthers @ Lions (Lions Win)…Carolina’s defense has just been down right bad of late. That’s bad news for them because the Lions (coming off a horrible loss to the Bears last week) has the capabilities of scoring a lot of points with some of the weapons they have on this team, and Stafford/Johnson combo will dominate the board come Sunday, sorry Newton/Smith, after last week losing to the Titans, I don’t believe you’ve got what it takes to win this game. Detroit wins big, and will carry their momentum into their Thanksgiving meetup with the Cheeseheads.
Bucs @ Packers (Packers Win)…Aaron Rodgers looks to continue his MVP performance vs. Tampa Bay. Something has happened to these Bucs of late, just struggling to operate, and win as a team. That’s not good news when they’re playing the defending Champions who’ve just dominated most of this season thus far. Green Bay’s defense has a field day out there on Sunday, as well as the offense. Green Bay wins with a blowout, hurting the Bucs chances at a playoff spot.
Bills @ Dolphins (Bills Win)…After a disaster last Sunday losing to Dallas, the Buffalo Bills are looking to regain some confidence, and try to keep in contention with their fellow AFC East teams for a playoff opportunity. I “Billieve” that Buffalo comes out fighting hard for this victory, the defense steps up, and the offense will rely on Fred Jackson to carry them to victory. Doplhins have played well the past few weeks, but their winning streak is coming to an end. Bills take it by a touchdown.
Raiders @ Vikings (Raiders Win)…Minnesota might have one of the best back’s in the game with Peterson, but that’s about all they’ve got for offense now a days. Carson Palmer continues to improve week in, and week out with his Oakland Raiders currently holding onto first place. This Raiders team will run well with Bush, and the defense will contain these Vikes, Oakland takes it on the road in a close one.
Cowboys @ Redskins (Cowboys Win)…As a Cowboys fan, i’ve loved the way this team has played since their loss to the Eagles a few weeks ago. They attack you with the running game of Demarco Murray, and that creates opportunites for the pass game where Romo has looked great, especially last week when he set a Cowboys Franchise Record completing 88.5% of his passes, just outstanding. The Dallas pass defense has played better than it has in recent weeks by creating turnovers. With Demarcus Ware rushing the QB from the outside, and Ratliff creating enough pressure in the middle, I expect the ‘Boys to continue their win streak against a struggling Washington Redskins team. Dallas wins the divisional rival matchup easier than the last time these two played.
Cardinals @ 49ers (49ers Win)…San Francisco’s defense will be too much for Skelton, and the Cardin this week. Arizona escaped the Eagles game with a win last week, but i don’t see this team winning 2 in a row, especially on the road. Niners win.
Seahawks @ Rams (Rams Win)…You see it all the time, especially in the NFL. A team plays great, and gets the win over a tough team, and then the following week they have a letdown. Seattle beat up on Baltimore last Sunday, this week they’ll have a letdown against Bradford/Jackson’s Rams. Jackson will have a huge day running it, and will power his team to victory over these Seahawks.
Titans @ Falcons (Falcons Win)…After a questionable decision by Atlanta’s head coach last week in Overtime vs. the Saints to go for it on 4th down which lead to New Orleans kicking the game winning field goal. Titans won last week vs. Carolina, but that’s the Panthers, and not the Falcons. Turner will run all over these guys, while Ryan passes for 3 TD scores, I see Atlanta winning it by a large margin.
Chargers @ Bears (Chargers Win)…Chicago has been playing well of late, while San Diego is doing the complete oppsite. Forte has a usual performance in this one, but I can see Cutler make multiple mistakes in this game, keeping San Diego in it. The Chargers show pride, and Rivers has a big day, ending their losing streak, and sticking with the other teams in the weaker AFC West. Chargers win it by a close margin.
Eagles @ Giants (Giants Win)…With the Cowboys crawling up their back, the Giants know they cannot have a letdown like they did last week vs. San Francisco. It’s a Sunday Night Football game in New York. Vick, and some other members of the Eagles are banged up, and who knows who’s in or out, as they’ll be a game time decision I assume. Regaurdless of who’s in or out, I don’t think the Eagles have it in them to come out with a victory on the road this week after what I see from them vs. Arizona last Sunday afternoon. G-Men win it at home.
Chiefs @ Patriots (Patriots Win)…Tom Brady led his team to an impressive road win last Sunday Night against the J-E-T-S Jets. With Matt Cassel ruled out this week vs. his former team, I don’t see Kansas City having a chance to win on Monday Night in Foxboro. The Pats offense will have it’s way vs. the Chiefs, big time win for Brady, and his teammates. Blowout.
Last Week 10-6
Jets @ Broncos
The Broncos keep finding ways to win even with the lack of a passing game and for the most part an offense. Winning this game will be a lot tougher without a offense when they face the Jets defense. Game plan for the Jets D is simple. Make Tebow throw the ball. Stopping the run will almost guarantee the Jets a W but if not this one could be a sneaky trap game for New York. I expect the Jets defense to play like a Rex Ryan defense and contain Tebow and the Broncos. NY JETS 20 DENVER 9
Bills @ Dolphins
After the absolute horrendous performance by the Bills against the Cowboys they have to travel to Miami to play the suddenly inspired Dolphins. The Bills better come out and get motivated like they were early in the season. This will be a very close game but Fred Jackson will not allow Buffalo to lose their 4th out of their last 5 and carry the Bills to the win with his 6th 100 year game. BUFFALO 23 MIAMI 20
Jaguars @ Browns
Peyton Hillis will miss yet another game for the Browns hurting their chances for another week. Just another casualty of the Madden Curse. Over the past 5 weeks without Hillis the Browns have scored 17, 3, 10, 12, and 12. There offense has been non existant for the majority of the year but without Hillis it will only get worse over time. Jacksonville hasn’t been much better but in this matchup of 3-6 teams Im leaning towards Jacksonville. JACKSONVILLE 13 CLEVELAND 10
Panthers @ Lions
Detroit has been struggling as of late slowing down from their hot 5-0 start, losing 3 of their last 4. Their defense will play motivated after losing bad to the Bears last week and make Cam Newton have a long day. Presuming Stafford plays he will throw a couple of touchdown passes to Johnson and win easily. DETROIT 28 CAROLINA 10
Buccaneers @ Packers
The Packers are on fire after dismantling the Vikings on Monday night and it will continue when they host the Bucs. Aaron Rodgers will continue his MVP season and throw 4 td passes in a dominating win to reach 10-0. GREEN BAY 31 TAMPA BAY 7
Raiders @ Vikings
Oakland’s offense finally started clicking with Carson Palmer at the helm in their Thursday night win over the Chargers as they now travel to Minnesota. Not having McFadden for another week will hurt their offense a bit but Michael Bush will do a fine job carrying the bulk of the rushing now. Minnesota is still recovering from the absolute beating they took from the Super Bowl champion Packers last monday night and now have to play a very good Oakland team. Oakland will win this matchup and extend their AFC West lead over the 3 way tie for 2nd. OAKLAND 21 MINNESOTA 10
Cowboys @ Redskins
Dallas demolished the Bills last week and have their team rolling as they head into Washington. The Redskins have lost 5 in a row now and now have to play their NFC East rivals. Dallas could have a chance after this game of having a share of the NFC East lead with a win and a Giants loss. The Cowboys will win this matchup like they did in week 3 but a lot more convincing than winning by 2 points. DALLAS 27 WASHINGTON 0
Bengals @ Ravens
In a AFC North matchup with playoff implications the surprising Bengals play the Ravens. Andy Dalton and A.J. Green are making very strong cases for rookie of the year and are main reasons for the Bengals fantastic start. But they have another difficult defensive team to face in the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens will handle the rookie duo and keep up with the Steelers in their bye week. BALTIMORE 27 CINCINNATI 14
Seahawks @ Rams
Both of there teams are fighting to not be eliminated from playoff contention before Thanksgiving and odds are the loser of this game will be eliminated based on how great the 49ers are playing. The home field advantage will make a difference for the Rams in this game and having Sam Bradford back 100% will give the Rams the edge in this game. ST. LOUIS 19 SEATTLE 10
Cardinals @ 49ers
The 49ers are on a roll and would be considered the best team in the NFL if it wasn’t for the Packers and now they play the Cardinals. They are getting close to locking up the division before thanksgiving and they will get one step closer to the postseason with this win. Even with the possibility of not having Frank Gore their offense will carry them to a victory. SAN FRANCISCO 23 ARIZONA 6
Titans @ Falcons
With all of the injuries the Texans are now suffering, this is the perfect time for the Titans to step up. But they will have to earn it against the Falcons who suffered a tough loss against their division rivals the Saints. Chris Johnson finally preformed in a blowout win against the Panthers but will struggle against Atlanta. Matt Ryan will make fantasy owners happy with a 3 touchdown game in a solid performance all around. ATLANTA 30 TENNESSEE 21
Chargers @ Bears
The Chargers are running the risk of not making the playoffs for 2 consecutive years after they lost to the Raiders last week and now have to play the surging Bears. The Bears smashed the Lions last week and are playing fantastic. Their defense will continue Rivers problems this year and take the win at home. CHICAGO 24 SAN DIEGO 13
Eagles @ Giants
The free fall of the supposed “Dream Team” continued last week after losing yet another 4th quarter lead to the Cardinals and fall into a tie for the basement of the NFC East. And now they have to play the leaders of the NFC East who are also recovering from a hard loss against the surprising 49ers. Eli Manning has been playing great this year. The Eagles defense has not been playing up to par this year and with all of the talent on that defense and team for that matter it is getting frustrating in Philly this year. The Giants will keep their lead in the division and sweep the Eagles this year. NY GIANTS 26 PHILADELPHIA 21
Chiefs @ Patriots
This was suppose to be a fun matchup between Brady and Cassel in a New England reunion but because of Cassel’s injury we will have to wait. The Patriots have sole possession of the AFC East lead and will continue to keep it after this blowout. Two consecutive one sided games on monday night as the Pats will blow out the Chiefs at home. NEW ENGLAND 38 KANSAS CITY 3
Raiders @ Chargers
The NFL did the chargers no favors giving them 3 games in 10 days and starting out 0-2 in these games shows these guys are getting tired. The raiders are without Mcfadden again so the rushing game for oakland will be lacking a bit. Rivers will bounce back and the chargers will win this close one. San Diego 24 Oakland 20
Cardinals @ Eagles
This would have been a matchup with Kevin Kolb coming back to Philly where he was suppose to take over after the Mcnabb era ended but due to injury this will not happen. Even with Kolb playing it would not make a difference against the eagles. Dream team they are not however they are a better team and will have this game in hand. Philadelphia 28 Arizona 10
Rams @ Browns
Its a big 12 matchup with Bradford vs McCoy as a backdrop to a strange and interesting matchup. Having Bradford back will help the rams offense while on the other side the browns will be without Peyton Hillis again. This will be a very close matchup between two evenly matched teams but i believe that the home field advantage will push the browns over. Cleveland 17 St. Louis 14
Titans @ Panthers
Cam Newton is having one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history with the help of a career resurgence from Steve Smith. Tennessee needs Chris Johnson to earn the money he has yet to show this year. Cam and the panthers offense will run all over the titans defense and lead carolina to a win. Carolina 31 Tennessee 20
Jaguares @ Colts
Everyone is saying that this is the week that the Colts will get their first win. You know who won’t think that? The Jaguares. They will use all of the negative talk about them just like they did when they played the ravens on monday night weeks ago and come out and perform. The colts first win will have to wait. Jacksonville 14 Indianapolis 10
Bills @ Cowboys
These types of games are always tough for me. Buffalo a team that I love who has a high powered offense but a weak defense at times and playing on the road. Dallas a team with the talent that can make it to the super bowl but can never reach their full potential. DeMarco Murray will have a big game against the bills rushing d. DeMarcus Ware will learn from what the jets did and pressure Fitspatrick into making a couple mistakes. Fred Jackson will have a usual big game but it will not be enough. As much as it hurts I have to pick against the bills and pick the cowboys in a close one at home. Dallas 24 Buffalo 23.
Broncos @ Chiefs
Once again Tebow mania is sweeping the nation after one win and they are talking playoffs. Lets relax and go one game at a time. The broncos have a lot of problems that just putting Tebow in will fix. The chiefs after getting embarrassed by the previously winless miami dolphins will have something to prove. Kansas City 27 Denver 20
Texans @ Buccaneers
These are the type of games that the texans need to win if they are going to be considered a elite team and win their division. Road wins against good teams. Arian Foster needs to have a big game and the defense has to step up in order to get the w. Houston 23 Tampa Bay 17
Saints @ Falcons
A matchup that may be for the NFC north championship and a possible bye in the playoffs. The saints high powered offense will show their muscles against the falcons defense. Both of these high scoring teams will light up the scoreboard but the saints will win with a late field goal. New Orleans 45 Atlanta 42
Redskins @ Dolphins
Miami on a win streak? It will happen as they will ride the wave of momentum of the 31-3 blowout of the chiefs and continue against washington. Matt Moore will connect with Brandon Marshall for a pair of touchdowns and reggie bush will rush for over 100 yards and miami will move farther away from the “Suck For Luck” sweepstakes. Miami 28 Washington 16
Steelers @ Bengals
Cincinnati has been a nice surprise this season but has not received the same respect as the other teams with the same record. Those critics will be right in this matchup. The steelers are playing as well as any team in the league when they are not playing the ravens. Rothlisberger will have a nice game and will handel the bengals with ease on the road. Pittsburgh 20 Cincinnati 10
Ravens @ Seattle
The ravens have the tie breaker over the steelers for the rest of the year and they will use it and win the AFC north. They will take this one easily in seattle. The overpowering defense will silence “beast mode” and ray rice will have a huge game on the ground as the ravens take this one easily. Baltimore 35 Seattle 7
Lions @ Bears
(I’m not going to make a wizard of oz joke like Drew, you’re welcome)
The lions took round one in their emotional return to monday night against the bears. This time around the game is in chicago and the bears are the hotter team. Chicago pulled off a bit of an upset over the eagles on monday night and has been playing quite well of late. The bears will once again pull off a little bit of an upset and win a close one at home. Chicago 20 Detroit 17
Giants @ 49ers
A matchup with huge playoff implications in San Francisco. The 49ers have been a great surprise this year and are looking to clinch the NFC west by thanksgiving. The giants are looking to put some more ground in between them and the rest of the NFC east. The big win over the patriots will give the giants a little more swagger but traveling for their second straight road game and having to go across the country will take its toll on new york. San Francisco will move one game closer to the playoffs with a close win. San Francisco 21 NY Giants 17
Patriots @ Jets
Two of the three teams tied atop the AFC east play each other in a big matchup that will have big implications into who will win the division and possibly who will make the playoffs. Brady and the pats have to comeback from a heartbreaking loss to the other team that calls new york home, the giants. The pats will bounce back and hand Sanchez and the jets a big loss. New England 26 NY Jets 21
Vikings @ Packers
The defending champs are off to the best start you can imagine being undefeated and there quarterback is playing as well as anyone has been playing in recent memory. Playing their division rivals at home on monday night in lambeau field will have the packers playing at a high intensity and there defense will torture the rookie ponder in there second go around. Green Bay 31 Minnesota 16
Raiders @ Chargers (Chargers win)…No McFadden, no problem right? Wrong. Oakland has a good back in Bush, who will probably find himself running for 100 yards in this one, as Oakland looks to keep this run game going with Palmer still new to the team. The difference in this game will be how each team’s offense plays. The Chargers defense gave up too many points to the high scoring Packers a week ago, but their offense was going strong despite a few picks by Rivers. Jackson has another multi-TD game, and Rivers has a big day to get this W on Thursday Night Football, “Stay Classy San Diego”.
Cardinals @ Eagles (Eagles win)…The matchup of the Eagles defensive ends vs. the Cards’ offensive lineman will turn into a game of Pacman, Philly is going to eat them up. No Kevin Kolb means a struggle on offense, Vick, and McCoy get big days rushing in this one, expect the Eagles to look like they did 2 weeks ago getting a blowout win here on Sunday.
Rams @ Browns (Rams Win)…Should be an intersting matchup here, two teams struggling the past few weeks looking for a victory. St. Louis could’ve won the game last week but lost on a PR TD in Overtime. Cleveland can’t seem to get their offense going, they must really miss the Madden Cover Athlete Peyton Hillis. Rams on consecutive road games will be tough for them but I see them finding a way to get the win Sunday. Bradford is back, and will only improve as the weeks progress.
Titans @ Panthers (Panthers Win)…Super Cam, and his Carolina teammates are coming off of a bye week. This team will be rested, and focused looking to beat the Titans. Yes, the Carolina ‘D has been suspect throughout this season, so Chris Johnson may have a big day, but with the Panthers being at home, I think Steve Smith, and Newton connect for scores, and Foster/Williams get the run game going to help this team win it in front of the home town fans.
Jaguars @ Colts (Jaguars Win)…And the Indianapolis Colts continue their sweepstakes for a Mr. Andrew Luck, as they will lose yet another game on Sunday afternoon. This team shows no life on either side of the ball, Jacksonville may not have the best QB in Gabbert, but Jones-Drew will be enough to get his team the edge. Jags coming off of the Bye will win a tight one on the road.
Bills @ Cowboys (Cowboys Win)…These two teams have a history, the Cowboys beat the Bills twice in the Super Bowl during the 1990′s. Tony Romo is 1-0 vs. Buffalo in his career, the last time these two played was a MNF game in Buffalo. Romo had a rough outing, but he lead his team down to score in the end of the 4th Quarter. With a missed 2 point conversion attempt, they had no choice but to go for the onside kick, as a result they recoverd, and Nick Folk drained the 53 yard Field Goal twice, because Bills called a Timeout during the first attempt which he made, and did it again to give “The Boys” the big win. Fast forward the clocks to 2011, and you have the Bills in a good position to make a Playoff chase, while the Cowboys are 4-4 (team’s better than the record shows) looking to keep up with the G-Men. I see DeMarco Murray having a big game, yet again as he continues to impress the football world. Romo will give his team plenty of opportunities to score points vs. a Bills defense having trouble stopping the run, and such. Dallas’ defense will do enough to contain Fitz, Freddy, and Stevie Johnson. Cowboys win it.
Broncos @ Chiefs (Chiefs Win)…The Kansas City Chiefs had a huge letdown to Miami last week, don’t see that happening again. Tebow will be forced to win this game with his arm, and will come up short. Chiefs keep pace in the West with this victory, I see a close game here.
Texans @ Bucs (Texans Win)…Houston’s run game has been great of late, as well as their defense. The Texans will keep things going strong in this matchup vs. Tampa Bay (who’s been slumping). Bucs really need this victory to stay within range of it’s fellow division foes. Bucs lose this one by a Touchdown.
Saints @ Falcons (Falcons Win)…Vulnerable Saints defense could lead to letting up some big offensive plays for Matty Ice, and his Falcons. Atlanta can rely on Turner to have a good day running, as well as White/Jones being the deep threats needed to give the Falcons the edge in this game. New Orleans will keep it close with their offense, Brees will play well, but this game is going to be about the defensive side of the ball, Atlanta will get some turnovers, and big plays on offensive to get the victory.
Redskins @ Dolphins (Dolphins Win)…Miami went from winless, to having a win streak now. Yes, a 2 game win streak will be in favor of these Dolphins. Miami has played with great effort lately. Wake, and his defense will put a lot of pressure on Beck, and the ‘Skins. Washington is hurting right now, and it’s about to get worse with this loss. Matt Moore leads his team to another win, ‘Phins win by 13.
Steelers @ Bengals (Steelers Win)…Pittsburgh lost at home to the first place Ravens last Sunday Night, this game is an important one for Big Ben. On the road, I see the Steelers squeaking out the victory in Cincy. Dalton, and his team don’t have the experience to keep his team tied for first after this week. Bengals lose by 10.
Ravens @ Seahawks (Ravens Win)…The Baltimore Ravens will have sole possession of first place in the AFC North after this week is over, and done. The defense will have it’s way vs. Jackson and the ‘Hawks. Lynch will try to get his team’s running game going, but don’t expect a 100 yard rusher for Seattle vs. Baltimore this week. Flacco gets Rice the ball plenty in this lopsided victory for the Ravens.
Lions @ Bears (Bears Win)…Lions, and Bears oh my…These two teams playing a meaningful game this deep in the season? Seems like forever ago when you could say that. Chicago dominated in all phases of the game when they beat the Eagles last Monday Night. This game will rely on who has the better defense, and right now you would have to go with the Bears ‘D. Chicago will win this one by no more than 9 points.
Giants @ 49ers (49ers Win)…The Niners head back to Cali for a home game against the New York Football Giants. G-Men may have escaped New England with a win last game, but I think heading coast to coast on back to back road games will take it’s toll on these players. The start of the Giants losing streak begins here. 49ers will run with Gore early, and often vs. the 25th ranked rush defense of the Giants. San Fran pulls of the win in a very close finish.
Patriots @ Jets (Jets Win)…Tom Brady on a 3 game losing streak? Unheard of right? Nope…Rex will keep his team motivated, and focused for this huge game. They’ll be able to keep up the intensity like they had last week vs. Buffalo. Revis Island will shutdown Brady’s offense who’s had trouble the past few weeks on Offense. Not a lot of deep passes for New England in this one, I see the J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets! winning by no more than 10 in a Sunday Night showdown at home.
Vikings @ Packers (Packers Win)…Close game? I think not. The Packers offense will be too much for Ponder’s Vikings to overcome. Ponder won’t be able to have his team keep afloat in the scoring game vs. Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers continues his MVP-type season by dominating this Minnesota defense. Blowout on Monday Night Football is to be expected here.
Its been a while since there has been a meaningful game between these two teams, so expect the Ralph to get pumped. After the Bills beat down of the Redskins in Toronto last weekend, the Bills are riding high and have confidence and the mentality that they can beat any team they can face. The Jets are 0-3 on the road and going into a hostile environment in Buffalo it wont get any easier for them. Bills will force Sanchez into making mistakes and pull this one out at home. BUFFALO 27 NY JETS 20
The Colts are in shambles with the only thing they are competing for is the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. With one of the worst rushing defenses in the league expect Turner to have a big performance and the rest of the Falcons to have a easy afternoon. ATLANTA 38 INDIANAPOLIS 7
Expect the Saints to rebound after a surprising loss to the former winless Rams and get back to the Super Bowl winning form they have been expected to play. The Bucs will keep this one close but the Saints will pull it out with a late field goal. NEW ORLEANS 31 TAMPA BAY 28
Playing consecutive road games wont help the Browns chances against the texans. Cleveland will be without Peyton Hillis again so expect the Texans to handle the Browns. HOUSTON 20 CLEVELAND 10
The Dolphins continue to find new and interesting ways to lose games each week and I expect this week to be no different. The Chiefs are playing on a short week fresh off their unbelievable win over the Chargers that Rivers just about gave them. I expect no letdown for the Chiefs but the Dolphins will keep it close but fall short once again. KANSAS CITY 17 MIAMI 14
The 49ers are one of the hottest teams in the NFL winners of their last 5 and 6-1 on the year as they travel into washington who gave mike shanahan his first shutout in his coaching career against Buffalo. 49ers will continue their hot streak as washington almost gives up back to back shutouts. SAN FRANCISCO 24 WASHINGTON 3
After a performance that can only be described as horrendous, Dallas has to make a comeback if they even want to sniff the postseason. This game starts a run for Dallas where 4 of their next 5 teams they face have losing records. Dallas will come out with a balanced attack and get closer to the top of the NFC East. DALLAS 30 SEATTLE 10
In what will be the one of the closest games of the week it will come down to how the young cincy team can handle the pressure in tennessee. The rookie duo of Dalton and Green have been great for the Bengals this year but i think they will have a bit of a hickup against the titans. Matt Hasselbeck is having a nice bounce back year but will struggle a bit against the Bengals ‘D. Chris Johnson will finally earn some of the money that he is making and score 2 touchdowns in a Titans win. TENNESSEE 26 CINCINNATI 21
Oakland seemed like a totally different team last week without Jason Campbell. Now with Carson Palmer having a couple of extra weeks to learn the new system odds are he wont throw 3 interceptions again. The Broncos offense will continue their struggles as the Raiders will get the win. OAKLAND 23 DENVER 10
In a rematch of Super Bowl 42 it will be a air show between Eli and Brady that will be a close hard fought battle where whoever blinks first will lose. The Patriots are coming off a loss against the Steelers so expect them to come out extra motivated. Eli may not be in the elite class but he is pretty close the way he has been playing this year. Also Brady is on a 30 home regular season winning streak. That number will reach 31. NEW ENGLAND 38 NY GIANTS 34
In the most uninspiring matchup of the week, the 1-6 Rams play the 1-6 Cardinals…Yay? The Cardinals will be without Kevin Kolb and how well the rams played against the Saints they will beat the Cardinals. ST. LOUIS 17 ARIZONA 6
The Pack is riding high as the only undefeated team left with my pick for mvp Aaron Rodgers running wild on every defense he plays against. The Chargers have to play on a short week after suffering a devastating loss against the Chiefs this does not add up well for the chargers. GREEN BAY 30 SAN DIEGO 13
A rematch of a surprising week one domination of the Steelers by the Ravens. This however is a different Pittsburgh team fresh off a big win over the thorn that has been in their side for years the New England Patriots. If Pittsburgh’s defense can keep the ball out of Ray Rice’s hands they should win this sunday night showdown. PITTSBURGH 28 BALTIMORE 21
Matt Forte has not been getting enough credit for what he is doing for Chicago and it will show Monday Night. Despite Forte’s big game the Eagles high powered offense has too many weapons to not get the ball into the endzone. The Philly defense will hold Cutler at bay and the Eagles will win a close one. PHILADELPHIA 24 CHICAGO 20
Jets @ Bills (Jets win)…I think the experience of the Jets will come into play for this game, especially on the defensive side. Expect New York to blitz Fitzpatrick early and often, try to cause some turnovers which they are highly capable of doing. Hello Stevie Johnson, welcome to Revis Island. The Jets pull out a close victory in a hard fought battle. These two teams likely will be competing hard for one of the Wild Card spots, as I figure New England will win the AFC East. This game has a lot of importance.
Seahawks @ Cowboys (Cowboys win)…After an awful, just embarrassing loss to the Eagles last Sunday Night, I expect nothing less than a total 360 from what happened a week ago. The offense will play great, starting with a balanced attack both passing, and running (now that Murray has shown he is more than capable of carrying the load). The defense should be amp’d up, and ready to prove they can put forth a better outing than last week’s showing. Seattle won’t know what hit them (actually they will, DeMarcus Ware), the ‘Boys get the W at home.
Browns @ Texans (Texans win)…The Browns are playing consecutive road games, and their offense is almost non-existent of late. Houston is home, and will look to continue it’s win streak. They get the win without a problem.
Falcons @ Colts (Falcons win)…Atlanta shouldn’t have any problems getting the victory at Indy this week, this isn’t the Colts team of old with Manning leading the charge. Painter is the QB, and the Falcons will have their way in a route of the Manning-less Colts.
Dolphins @ Chiefs (Chiefs win)…Even though Miami is winless to date, this team has fought hard, and will keep this game tight throughout. In the end, Kansas City squeezes out the victory, with the AFC West division lead staying in their favor.
Bucs @ Saints (Saints win)…New Orleans lost to the AJ Feely lead St. Louis Rams last week? Say what? Tampa Bay, don’t think you’ll push the same luck in the dome this week. Saints take it out on the Bucs this week in what could be a high scoring affair.
49ers @ Redskins (49ers win)…Washington was simply terrible last week in Toronto vs. the Bills. Nothing about this banged up roster makes me think anything will change anytime soon, the ‘Skins will be in trouble, even at home this week. Niners win a close, low scoring game.
Broncos @ Raiders (Raiders win)…Tebow vs. Palmer is all people have been talking about whene they heard this matchup was happening earlier in the week, but with Oakland coming off of a Bye Week, and looking to stay in this tight AFC West race, Palmer figures out the playbook, and plays well enough to get his team the W.
Bengals @ Titans (Bengals win)…Tough pick here, but I believe the Bengals are playing with a confidence both on offense, and defense. The rookie combo of Dalton to Green has been getting better, and better with each week, while their defense is one of the best in the league right now. Cincy wins a close one here.
Rams @ Cardinals (Rams win)…St. Louis won in New Orleans last week, wow I know right? Arizona looks to be without Kolb this week, and I think their woes continue, and St. Louis pulls of another road victory. Rams take it in a close one.
Giants @ Patriots (Patriots win)…The schedule becomes tough from this point forward for the G-Men, good luck beating New England after they lost to Pittsburgh last week, they’ve got their eyes on this victory. Plus, Bradshaw is questionable for New York, so that takes away their run game, I believe Eli will regret making those comments about how he’s on Brady’s level after this game. Giants lose, Welker carves up the defense, and even Ocho Cinco will score a TD, let alone a catch this week for the Pats.
Packers @ Chargers (Packers win)…Green Bay’s offense is hitting on all strides right now, though their pass defense is skeptical at times throughout this season, the Pack gets the win in San Diego this week. Rivers will try to keep his team within striking distance, but will come up short. Packers offense lights up the ‘Bolts defense enough to win by a close margin.
Ravens @ Steelers (Steelers win)…Sunday Night Football, a modern day rivalry, does it get any better than this people? Steelers impressed me last week beating New England, Big Ben lead their offense to big drives, and the defense held Brady under 200 yards passing. Baltimore’s defense will play well, but Pittsburgh will do enough as a unit to get this win in front of the home crowd.
Bears @ Eagles (Eagles win)…Philly, after a big time victory over my Cowboys last week will look to continue their win streak, especially on Monday Night Football with the home town fans going crazy, I think Cutler has a big time game, Forte plays great, but Chicago’s defense won’t stop the Eagles offense enough to beat them. Eagles win on the shoulders of McCoy, and Jackson.
The sports media is always looking for the best new story that they can base a hour long special around and spend time breaking down something that does not require that much time on. Usually it will involve a team or player who the public will gravitate towards either for admiration or purely hate. They do this for each of the major sports sometimes creating stories when there are none. The one player they are now talking about is the college superstar Tim Tebow.
The Broncos have been virtually forced into starting Tebow by the fans after a 1-4 start to the season. The chants of “We Want Tebow” could be heard in week 1 while then starting Quarterback Kyle Orton was attempting to lead the team down the field in a game where the Broncos were still in the game. Orton was benched during a loss against the Chargers where he played poorly with the team being down by multipul scores and the reins were given to Tim. Tebow made a valiant comeback in the final minutes and were within a hail mary throw to winning buy failed bringing the final to 29-24 Chargers. But the fans got what they wanted.
Tebow mania was a buzz when during the bye week John Fox announced that Tim would be starting Week 7 against the winless Dolphins. Every major media outlet seemed to talk nonstop about his first start of the season and what would happen. Would he be the savior of the Broncos season, leading them to a playoff run and with luck a super bowl? One website stated that the entire world was watching his first start for the 1-4 Broncos against the winless Dolphins. Yeah, sure.
All of the publicity and attention towards Tebow deserving or not cant be blamed on him. He is virtually just along for the ride, dealing with the positive and negative attention and publicity that should be pointed at a experienced veteran, not a second year player who really hasen’t preformed on the next level yet. Yes he has had his share of attention in college, winning the heisman in his sophomore year, and dealt with it with class and respect he has always has, but the expectations because of what he did in college that are placed upon him are almost unreachable for someone so early in his professional career. The combination of his performance on the field and his beliefs such as his religion make him such a notable person in sports.
The problem for players like Tebow is that the media builds players that they know people will pay attention to and will keep them in the public eye even when the situation they are in is not as important or the timing of the story is not at the appropriate time. Talking about a second year quarterback starting for a 1-4 team facing a winless team in 2 weeks should not be the lead in story on sportscenter. This would never be talked about so soon unless the quarterback was someone they know people will want to see.
Being a Buffalo Bills fan, when I see all of this time being used hyping Tebow up as time that could have been used on talking about other teams that have been playing much better than the Broncos, teams like the Bills, Bengals, Lions, and 49er’s.
So the week came for Tebows first start of the season and he played very poorly until about 5 minutes left in the game when he led his team back to tie the game throwing 2 touchdown passes and running in a 2 point conversion and winning in overtime on a field goal. The media exploded. Tebow was everywhere being hailed as the next best quarterback and praising the broncos on the success of the Tebow experiment. Doing countless interviews for every tv station, magazine, newspaper, and website talking about the “success” he had in the game, forgetting about the poor performance during the majority of the game.
People kept talking about Tebow until his next game against the Lions. The result was a blowout loss for the Broncos and a horrible performance for Tebow.
The media jumped off the Tebow bandwagon overnight. Analysts who praised Tebow one week were now criticizing the flaws that they overlooked in the past. Some went as far as suggesting they should release him and start over after 2 games with him leading the team.
The mainstream media has always had a bad habit of getting too high and too low at times with certain teams and players to make a story sometimes out of nothing. Tim Tebow is just another popular player put under a extremely close microscope that he will have to deal with for the rest of his career good or bad. The over coverage of Tebow is hurting his career as an NFL quarterback more than helping it.
The verdict on Tebow is still out for me, if he can have time to grow as a NFL quarterback and fix the problems that he has he has a chance to make it, but if the media continues over coverage of him when he plays well and writing him off when he has a poor game he won’t have much of a chance to improve.
